Your burning questions answered...

Hopefully we've covered every query you may have about this wedding weekend of ours, but if we've missed something out then don't be afraid to shoot us an email instead. If you're lucky to have Chandler read it then you may get an answer straight away. If it's Steve then please be prepared to wait 3-5 business days. It's a gamble, we know.

What should I bring for the weekend?

We seem to have picked up a reputation of being pretty light packers (since the backpacker days anyway!), but we know that's not always the case for everyone! If you are staying with us at the château, bedding, towels etc are provided so please don't worry about bringing those. We're expecting the weather to be typical spring-time temps but April is not always very predicatable, so we'd recommend being prepared for both sun and rain. You might want a jacket/coat for the evening and hopefully sunglasses for the day! And if you're tempted to brave the pool then don't forget your swimmers (perhaps a wetsuit) and towel! But otherwise, bring yourselves and whatever you would normally take on a trip away. Just don't forget your passport!

Is there a dress code?

We can already hear you asking each other: "what's everyone wearing?". Fair enough. Here's what we're thinking:

Welcome Dinner - this is where Chandler would say to Steve "just put on whatever you'd wear for a nice dinner out". So, whatever your interpretation of that is... For us, that would be a shirt and jeans for him and a dress for her, but we strongly recommend you do you. We're not the fashion police after all!

Wedding Day - we're going quite dressy for this one... Big day after all! But if we have to label it, we'll go ahead and call it a "cocktail" kinda affair. Hopefully we'll be outside for most of the afternoon so if you're usually a heel wearer, feel free to ditch them for something comfier. In our opinion: match your outfit to your sunnies and you'll be golden!

Is the wedding ceremony indoors or outdoors?

We plan for the ceremony to be held outdoors. Unless we somehow bring British weather with us, in which case we would move it into the maison. But let's keep our fingers crossed for the former!

Can we stay at the château with you?

We consider ourselves very lucky to have so many friends and family wishing to stay with us at Château du Raysse and in an ideal world we'd love to have you all! But sadly we have limited space, which is currently reserved for our wedding party and immediate family members. However, there are plenty of beautiful options in nearby villages, and you can search for these by clicking the links on our details page. Maybe you could team up with others that you know are coming? Food for thought!

Which is the nearest airport? Should we let you know our travel plans?

The three nearest aiports to Cazoulès are Bergerac, Toulouse and Bordeaux. We highly recommend looking into hiring a car for your trip and sharing it with others for a more cost effective option. Plus, then you have something to go around exploring in! But please do keep us in the loop with your plans so that we can offer advice and so we know who's doing what.

What do I need to travel to France?

If you are driving, please ensure you bring your driving license, insurance documents and V5C certificate. There is also a small list of safety items that all drivers, local or international, must carry in the car at all times; including: a safety vest, warning triangle, breathalyser and beam deflectors. All of this information and more is available on Green Flag, so do check that out too!

Also, please check your passports are at least 3 months in date if you're coming from the UK, and over 6 months if you're coming from further afield (we've personally been very nearly caught out before on this, and we're still not over the stress it caused!!). Don't forget travel insurance too, if you're that way inclined!

Should we bring a gift?

We know tradition usually dictates that you bring a gift with you to a wedding - however, we're not the most traditional of couples. Your presence for the weekend will mean so very much to us, and we are mindful of the time/costs of your travel in order to attend our wedding. We really don't expect you to bring a gift on top of that!

If you're an absolute stickler for tradition then we would be really grateful for a small contribution towards our honeymoon fund.

But above all we are truly thankful for your attendance and we cannot wait to spend time with you all over the weekend!

I can't attend the wedding in person! Are you livestreaming it?

One of the positive things to come out of the pandemic is the rise of Zoom (which many of you will likely be familiar with by now!) and we will do our very best to set up some sort of zoom/livestream of the wedding ceremony for those who can't be there in person. We'll keep you updated on this one!

I have a dietary requirement...

No worries! Drop us an email to let us know or make a note in the RSVP form, and we'll do our best to ensure you won't starve over the weekend!

Can you tell us more about the food and drink situation?

We are providing food for both adults and kids for the welcome dinner on day 1 (courtesy of Chandler's mum and stepdad, who plan to cook up a storm!) and on day 2 we'll be having a Hog Roast for a late afternoon meal and grazing boards for those peckish, late night cravings. Don't worry vegetarians, there will be alternative options to all of the above too!

There are a couple of fridges in the château and maison's kitchens for guests to share, along with storerooms for your breakfast, elevenses and midnight snacks. Feel free to stock them up with French cheese if you'd like!

We reckon it would be rude to visit France and not sample the local wine, so we'll stock up with those for the wedding day! However, we know not everyone is a fan of wine or proscesso, so please feel free to "bring your own bottle" for dinner if you're more of a gin and tonic person or a beer lover. We'll have soft drinks available as our non-alchoholic option.

Can I request a song for the dance floor?

You sure can, just as long as you get up there and shake it off with us! We've included a section for this on our online RSVP. Meet you on the dance floor! Don't worry though, Chandler has the ABBA medley covered!

Do I need to know how to speak French?

Rassurez-vous, vous n'aurez pas besoin de parler français au château mais si vous avez envie de pratiquer vos cours Duolingo dans la vraie vie, lors de vos déplacements autour de Cazoulès, nous ne vous arrêterons certainement pas!
